Why Choose Us
Our kids don't just stare on boards all day, they also have all sorts of fun with other kids and still be champions.
The DIG Chess Team consists of motivated players who practice weekly and participate in competitive chess tournaments! Every student who has joined our team has significantly improved their rating/chess skills by end of the season. We started the DIG Chess Team back in January of 2022. Since then, more than 100 students have joined our team.
Had the opportunity to see it all happening in front of me, it was very refreshing to see how excited and engaged the kids were. Absolutely a great program to have around that works with kids from all over.

Summer Camp Director/Chess Coach
I am Coach Ty, I have been working with DIG Chess for two-year, coupled with my expertise in chess that benefits children of all skill levels. Besides chess, my passion for sports, especially basketball, allows me to connect with the kids and help them have stay active in between chess tournaments through games like Nerf, Dodgeball, Soccer, and much more! My goal to make each child's summer camp experience fun, educational, and safe! The most thing I love about teaching chess is the flashbacks he gets when I watch my students ponder over the chessboard. I see a reflection of my younger self when Im first started learning the game. Every new principle, opening, trick, and rule is something that I now can get to pass down. Sharing my knowledge with them is a truly rewarding experience. I am constantly working to improve my skills, playing daily games and puzzles on Chess.com, in which I hold a rating of 2100+. I keep tracks of my progress, targeting areas of improvement, and reaches for new heights every day. I bring my expertise as a sport coach to my role as a DIG Chess coach. My emphasis on physical fitness, discipline, and determination is matched by my commitment to fun and sportsmanship. With the energetic and enthusiastic children at our events, I ensure they channel their energy in a safe, fair, and enjoyable way. Oh, and I never fails to make kids laugh!
Coach Michael
I am Coach Michael, I've been captivated by chess since I was 9, finding endless fascination in its strategies and complexities. Throughout my journey, I've achieved significant milestones, including winning first place in tournaments like the Hartford Open, acquiring a Lichess rating of 2300 and peaking my official US chess rating at 1500. At the age 13, I began tutoring young and aspiring players, while doing so I got to witness first hand the positive affects of chess on their lives. This passion led me to DIG chess, where I aim to share my love for the game and inspire others to explore its countless benefits.
